A daily journal of the running I do with my dog Chico. We frequently run the Steamboat Ditch Trail in Reno, Nevada. Chico helps me prepare for everything from 5Ks to Marathons. Chico is this man's best running friend.

Kidding around...

Weekday afternoon runs with the middle school cross country kids are fun. The kids who make the effort to stay with the lead pack are not always the same, but they have something in common - they strive to rise above. Being out front means running a little faster, pushing a little harder and taking a risk. They leave the comfort of the social group, where it's ok to walk or goof off, for the pressure and prestige of the lead runners' pack. Manuel and I will run with the team today and I look forward to seeing who opts to rise above.
